Backwater Breeze perfectly blends the ambience and privacy of a resort with the warmth of a home stay. Your host is a family of four members; and your holiday home is located in our ancestral property. We are the fourth generation of Puthanpura family. Our great grand parents came here in 1800s overcoming all odds to make a life of their own. Those days, it was quite adventurous to make a choice of this sort considering the lack of facilities available. But they were convinced by the charm of this beautiful land and decided to settle here. Now, more than a century later, this little village has changed a lot, but still retains its rustic beauty and charm.
Backwater Breeze is operated by Mr Varghese, a retired senior police officer, from the State Police Department, with the help of his family. He is assisted by his wife, Sheelamma and two children; Ajish, a post graduate in Tourism Management and Ashly, a health care professional.
You can stay in one of the rooms or in a houseboat. You also have the option to club these if you have more than a day with you.
All our accommodation units are backwater facing, ensuring there is nothing between you and backwaters except gentle breeze. Each room offers you the best views of the backwaters in Kumarakom. The vast paddy field behind the property is converted to a fish farm during the months of June–July and it’s the perfect way to watch the rural life go by, be it indigenous fishing techniques, sawing or harvesting. Rooms are spacious and are built in traditional Kerala architecture. Each room is fitted with amenities like cable TV, air condition, DVD player etc.
